This extended single-sided magazine release is a direct replacement for the factory unit on the Springfield Echelon and Echelon Compact. It addresses two common issues with the OEM release: the need to break the grip to reach the button under speed, and the risk of an inadvertent magazine drop from holster pressure or gear snag. By extending the pad .060″ at the highest point from the frame’s grip shield feature, it reduces reach distance without adding bulk where it can interfere with holster fit. The single-sided design eliminates the chance of a cross-body bump or holster-induced release, making this component suitable for USPSA, IDPA, and duty use where retention and positive control are required.

2 out of 5

FAQ
Will this work with aftermarket base pads or extended magazines?
Yes. The .060″ extension is measured from the frame’s grip shield, not the magazine body. It accommodates standard and +0/+2 base pads without binding, provided the magazine is seated fully.
Does this mag release fit holsters designed for the factory release?
In most cases, yes. The extension is minimal (.060″) and is located on the grip shield area, not the trigger guard or slide. However, if your holster is molded tightly around the factory release button, you may need to verify clearance. Duty and competition holsters with adjustable retention typically require no modification.
Can I use this with a right-handed setup and later switch to left-handed?
Yes. The release is reversible by disassembling the catch and spring, then reinstalling the button on the opposite side. No additional parts or tools beyond the initial install set are needed. Note that the extended pad will then protrude on the shooter’s strong-hand side.
