This Sear Calibration Kit allows you to retain the factory M&P trigger body while adjusting pull weight to a specific range. Designed for shooters who want a consistent, repeatable trigger pull without replacing the entire trigger assembly. The kit addresses the common issue of factory pull weight variance by providing a drop-in sear that delivers a known weight band. All components are 100% manufactured in the USA (Phoenix, AZ).
Platform Compatibility
- Smith & Wesson M&P (full-size, compact, Shield – note: Shield uses different sear housing) – verify fitment for your specific model
- Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 (all full-size and compact variants)
- Will not fit M&P Shield, Shield Plus, or Performance Center models with proprietary sear housings
Key Features
- Pull weight calibration: Maintain factory trigger body – swap only the sear to achieve a specific pull weight range (typically 4.5–5.5 lbs with this kit, depending on spring combination)
- Direct drop-in: No fitting, filing, or polishing required. Replace factory sear, reassemble.
- Trigger scan data: Pull weights measured with a Trigger Scan at a set point below the trigger pivot pin. Results with a manual handheld gauge (Lyman, Wheeler) will almost certainly read lighter. Expect 0.5–1.0 lb difference depending on technique.
- Maintains factory trigger geometry: No change to pre-travel, over-travel, or reset distance – only pull weight.
- 100% US manufactured: Phoenix, AZ.
Install Difficulty: 2/5
Armorer-level. Requires punch set, non-marring hammer, and slave pin or small drift. Remove slide, drift out sear housing pin, swap sear, reinstall. Approx. 15–20 minutes first time. No permanent modifications to the pistol.
FAQ
Will this work with my M&P Shield?
No. The Shield and Shield Plus use a different sear housing geometry. This kit is designed for standard M&P and M2.0 frames only.
Do I need to replace the trigger body or striker block?
No. This kit replaces only the sear. The factory trigger body, striker block, and springs remain in place. If you want a shorter reset or reduced pre-travel, this kit is not designed for that – it only adjusts pull weight.
Why is my manual gauge reading lighter than the listed spec?
The listed weights are measured with a Trigger Scan at a standardized point below the pivot pin. Handheld gauges (Lyman, Wheeler) typically read lighter due to variable hand pressure and gauge placement. This is normal. The kit is calibrated to the Trigger Scan method.
Shipping: Ships within 1 business day from Phoenix, AZ. Warranty: This component is covered by the manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. No warranty on wear items (springs) after installation.
