SKU: APX-A-104-015 Category:

These are replacement/ spare ISMI recoil springs for use with the full-length Apex guide rod assemblies in 9mm pistols with barrel lengths of 3.7” or longer. Designed primarily for the Hellcat Pro platform, these springs provide a consistent, linear coil rate for reliable slide cycling under various ammunition loads. If you have logged high round counts or are tuning your recoil impulse for a specific power factor, swapping to a fresh spring restores factory-spec timing and reduces felt slide velocity. This component is compatible exclusively with Apex full-size guide rods (not the standard factory plastic guide rod).

Compatibility

  • Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro (3.7” barrel, 9mm)
  • Springfield Armory Hellcat RDP / Hellcat OSP (requires Apex guide rod for Hellcat)
  • Glock 17, 17L, 34, 47 (9mm, full-size frame, with Apex full-size guide rod)
  • Glock 19X, 45 (with Apex full-size guide rod – verify dust cover clearance)
  • Other 9mm pistols using a full-size Apex guide rod assembly (1” outer diameter, 4.25”–5.3” overall length)

Does not fit compact/subcompact guide rods (Glock 19/23/32 or Hellcat standard).

Key Features

  • Standard ISMI chrome-silicon wire construction – consistent spring rate across temperature ranges
  • Rated for 9mm Parabellum / 9×19 – factory weight 13–15 lbs (linear rate)
  • Direct replacement for Apex full-size guide rod assemblies – no modification required
  • Sold individually – order two for dual-spring setups if your guide rod supports it

Install Difficulty: 2 / 5

Tools needed: Punch (3/32”) or small flathead screwdriver for retaining pin (if applicable). No fitting required. Field-strip the slide, depress the guide rod retainer, remove the old spring, slide the new spring onto the guide rod, and reassemble. Total time: 2–3 minutes.

FAQ

Will this spring work in my Glock 19 with an Apex guide rod?

No. This spring is sized for full-size guide rods (G17/34/47 length). The Glock 19 uses a compact guide rod (shorter overall length). You need the Apex compact recoil spring (sold separately).

How often should I replace the recoil spring?

ISMI springs typically maintain consistent performance for 3,000–5,000 rounds in 9mm. If you notice slide velocity changes, failure to return to battery, or erratic ejection patterns, replace the spring. Competition shooters may swap every 2,000 rounds for consistent timing.

Does this spring work with a standard factory guide rod?

No. This spring is designed specifically for the Apex full-size guide rod assembly (machined steel or aluminum). It will not fit the factory polymer guide rod due to diameter and length differences.

Shipping & Warranty: Ships same business day if ordered before 2 PM ET. This component carries a 1-year manufacturer’s defect warranty from Apex. Springs are consumable items – normal wear from use is not covered.
